FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AT THE SKATING CLUB OF WNY

1.   The SCWNY Grant Program –

Provides SCWNY skaters competing at specific competitions the opportunity to receive a monetary Competition Grant to help offset the entry fees and travel/training expenses as defined in the application.

In addition to the Competition Grants, all Full Members are eligible for the Banquet/Spring Skate Festival Grant and Seminars sponsored by the SCWNY.

2.    The Janice Smith Scholarship Fund

SCWNY’s head professional for over 25 years lost a valiant 3-year battle with cancer on October 6, 2010.  During her 30 year coaching career in Western New York, Janice coached almost 50 skaters to their USFS and CFSA Gold Medals and coached skaters to the regional, state, sectional and national levels.  Janice was also the founder of Skate Great, Inc., one of the largest basic skills programs in the United States.  Janice will forever be remembered for her devotion to the sport of figure skating and her positive, lasting influence on the skaters she coached.

Donations for the Janice Smith Scholarship Fund can be made to the Skating Club of Western New York.

Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis to Learn to Skate program participants.

The Skating Club of WNY is very proud to offer this benefit to our members. We consider ourselves very unique in our ability to do so and certainly one-of-a-kind in Western New York.

Stay tuned for more information regarding future eductional seminars!
